Addressing Transportation Needs

The Blueprint’s transportation element is called the Community and Environmental Transportation
Acceptability Process (CETAP). Led by the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), it identifies four new highway routes and public transit opportunities. The goal here is to maximize mobility within Riverside County and the Southern California region.

These are maps of the transportation network in western Riverside County. The colored lines illustrate
traffic congestion during rush-hour drive times, with the highest levels of congestion depicted in RED. The map on the right shows how bad traffic will be without CETAP and other transportation improvements, demonstrating an urgent need for new highways and public transit.

Our transportation system is already overloaded. There aren’t enough roads and freeways to handle more traffic in the future, and transit options (bus & rail) don’t fully serve the entire region. If we don’t take action now, additional traffic will result in more congestion, longer commutes, higher stress, additional safety risks and less time at home. This map shows the various transportation routes being studied in western Riverside County, including possible connections to Orange and San Bernardino Counties. Both highway and transit options are being considered. Visit the project web site at www.RCIP.org for more information on the proposed CETAP improvements.
